Synopsis

These Georgia rockers rode a tidal wave of fame after their superb Offerings release in 2000 netted a ton of Dove Awards as well as Grammy nominations. The ensuing whirlwind found them clinging tighter than ever to the foundation of their faith as well as to their music. The aptly titled Come Together melds the group's immense talent into a compelling must-have release. Mac Powell's growling vocals have always been a signature for the band and that hasn't changed. But thanks to producer Monroe Jones, Come Together also illuminates the fine guitar work of Brad Avery and Mark Lee, all the while supported by the skin-tight rhythm of bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr. The driving rocker "Get On" is balanced by the gorgeous balladry of "It's Alright." In between the two, Third Day beautifully rock our world, and for that we should be grateful. --Michael Lyttle

Deeper music, deeper meanings

"Third Day has been one of my favorite groups ever since their first album. In all of their songs the tracks that have affected me most have been songs like Thief, Just To Be With You, Your Love Endures Forever, King of Glory, and Agnus Dei. There are many more songs that I like but those listed above seem to have the deepest hold on me because of the meaning in the songs and because the songs aren't so heavy into rock and roll that some of the clarity is lost. Some of Third Day's other songs sound great but are tough to understand and I find that the easiest songs of theirs to understand fall under a praise and worship style of presentation. That's why I think Come Together is their best work to date. They mix outstanding clear lyrics with some amazing musical compilations to make a great sounding album with some amazing lyrics. There's not a single song I don't like on this album and I praise the Lord for what He's done with Mac Powell and the band. These men love Jesus and it shows in their music."
Another incredible album from Third Day

"When I pre-ordered this album, I didn't know quite what to expect. I absolutely loved Time and Offerings, and they are two of my most listened-to CD's. Somehow I couldn't imagine that Third Day could make something up to that level again. And yet, not only did they create an equal in Come Together, they have gone beyond their previous releases in many ways. Third Day now has a very mature rock style. They have come such a long way since their first CD. It seems as if all the stuff they have learned along the way, every improvement they have made, has come together (no pun intended) on this album. It is truly their most refined album yet. Every song can stand on its own. I think each one has been in my head at some point. There is a great combination of rock songs (like Get On and Come Together), and beautiful slower songs (like Show Me Your Glory and It's Alright). Come Together is the work of a truly incredible band that is continuing to make excellent music. Each release they have in some way surpasses the previous ones. Come Together is an awesome album that you will surely enjoy. It has a life of its own, yet it builds perfectly on Third Day's previous work. It is because of this that I highly recommend Come Together, and give it an enthusiastic 5 stars!"
