CD Reviews

A great collection of true Celtic Harp music
millrunner | Boston | 06/20/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I saw Therese Honey playing with The Chieftains in Texas not that long ago and I was just amazed by the skill and beauty with which she play the harp. It's amazing to hear Celtic harp music played on historically accurate instruments. Honey clearly spends a lot of time working to reproduce the true music of that lost age. I don't know if you can hear anything that sounds so close the real thing without going back in time. This CD is a treasure."
Good honest music

"If you enjoy traditional Celtic music then this CD Therese Honey is a definite "must have" for your collection. She is not just a great harpist, but she plays all the music on traditional instruments. I think one of the real joys of listening to this CD is not just hearing the music, but hearing the music in a form that is not anachronistic. There is magical quality to her playing that is hard to quantify (but I will try!): It is soulful, moving, and full of passion. In Mosaic, Honey presents just that; a disparate collection of Celtic music that ranges from the mournful "Lady Iveach" (my personal favorite) to livelier tunes like "Slipper Hornpipe". She paints a rich palate of Celtic music that ranges over a broad swath of history and at the end you can really see the long threads that connected a people and their music through a long and often difficult time. And on a more basic level the music is simple and relaxing. Like any good harp music it is hard to be plagued by the worries of the world while listening to the delicate plucking of strings. More than once I have tossed in her CD when the traffic around me ground to an infuriating halt or at the end of a stressful day. I highly recommend this CD for your collection both for the wonderful musicianship and for the honest way she approaches the material."
Very Nice

"The simple pairing of a skilled artist and well chosen music. I've found Mosiac to be one of those small gems you pick out of the sea of music and wonder "where has it been?""
