The debut CD release by the New World Jazz Composers Octet features a kaleidoscope of influences by composers Ted Pease, Jeff Friedman, Ken Schaphorst, Matthew Nicholl, and Bob Pilkington. From the intimacy of the latin tinged "Conversations", the Hancock influenced "Remembrance" to the Mingus inspired "(I am not a....) Material Witness", this band comprised of New England's finest players and some of the Berklee College of Music's most formidable faculty members, provide clear, inspired performances of the music written expressly for this ensemble. This band is a true BAND in the tradition of Miles Davis' and Dave Hollands bands. May this be the first of many by this outstanding ensemble.
