It has been an intense year for Todd Herfindal and Kevin Houlihan of The Meadows, as they have set off writing, recording, producing, mixing and mastering the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2005 self-titled debut album. The result of their latest mental brainstorm is First Nervous Breakdown , the band's second full-length album. First Nervous Breakdown is as triumphant and optimistic as it is melancholy and moody. Three part harmonies sore above guitars, organ, strings, drums and everything else you can think of, creating a modern, melodic, emotional landscape. The band held themselves up in many LA-based recording studios and after experiencing a few breakdowns of their own, completed additional tracking and mixing at Herfindal s Hi Point Studios. The Meadows then turned to Musical Guru Danny Saber (The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, U2, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, INXS, Garbage, The Charlatans UK, Black Grape...) to mix key tracks on the record. A cast of players appear on the album including Brian Young (Fountains of Wayne, The Posies) on drums/percussion; Joe Skyward (Sunny Day Real Estate, Sky Cries Mary, The Posies) on bass; Brian Lapin (Black Eyed Peas, Mozella, The Shore) on organ and piano.
