Lyrical, enchanting and unique instrumental jazz quartet featuring the original compositions of guitarist Margaret Slovak, joined Grammy-nominee Fred Hersch on piano, Michael Formanek on acoustic bass, and Michael Sarin on drums. For the Moment features Margaret's silky, mellow electric guitar playing and her original European-influenced, ECM-style instrumental jazz compositions. Mr. Hersch, Mr. Formanek, and Mr. Sarin supply beautiful, inventive and complementary musical magic. Six of the pieces feature the entire quartet; the disc also contains a solo guitar composition entitled Twice, and a duet between Margaret and Fred Hersch, O Solo Mole.This disc was recorded in New York City in November, 1989; it is now being released for the first time on the Slovak Music Label. Margaret Slovak is also a visual artist; she created the self-portrait cover drawing for this CD.
