Synopsis

Product Description
This Top 10 Platinum smash, originally released in 1978 on The Isley Brothers' own T-Neck label, has remained criminally out of print on CD in the U.S. until now! Boasting the #1 hit "Take Me To The Next Phase (Part 1 & 2)" and "Groove With You," and classic, frequently sampled jams like "Coolin' Me Out" and the title track, 'Showdown' was the perfect follow-up to The Isley Brothers' groundbreaking 'Go For You Guns' album. The 3+3 lineup - combining the vocals of the 3 elder brothers (Ronald, Rudolph and Kelly) with the writing and producing skills of younger brothers Ernie and Marvin and brother-in-law Chris Jasper - was on fire at this point, producing hit after hit while innovating constantly. Perhaps their funkiest album, 'Showdown' was built to rock the house, as Chris Jasper explains in detailed, all new liner notes.

"I can say this without any doubt, The ISLEY BROTHERS are the BEST at what they do!, which is providing us with high quality music for decades, and this stunning album again proves just that!!.Full of pure energy, this album will put a spring in your body and mind, you just can't sit down!, you will have to get up and groove!!.

Weighing 8 songs total, you are getting quality over quantity. We start off with the bouncy yet groovy "showdown", it's such a nice song!,then we got the all classic "GROOVE WITH YOU", my, my, this awesome piece is a true melter,it is my absolute favourite here!!. "ain't givin' up no love" is so sad, so real, so good! can you relate? I bet you can!!."rockin' with fire" is simply hot, very hot!!,"take me to the next phase" will wake you up, what a groove! a real stimulant! " coolin' me out" is so unique! it is in a class all by itself. It flows so very well, I realy love this one!. Then we got the lively yet positive "fun and games" , check out the lyrics!. Finaly "love fever" is a high energy event. Perhaps thier funkiest album, designed to make you move, I am almost forcing you to go get this sparkling gem of an album, Isley fan or no, you are going to be enjoying this one for years to come, believe me!!!."

"Like the lead-in story stated, it was absolutely criminal that it took this long for The Isley Brothers' "Showdown" to be released in the United States as a stand-alone album. After "The Heat Is On" and "Go for Your Guns" this is arguably the best of the group's legendary 3+3 era.

Like its predecessors ("3+3," "Live It Up," and "Harvest for the World," in addition to the previously mentioned), "Showdown" is great and creative in most spots. From the live concert feel of "Take Me to the Next Phase" to the laid-back, bass-slapping title track and "Coolin' Me Out" to the cool, clean ballad "Groove with You" to the bluesy "Ain't Givin' Up No Love" to the righteously funky "Rockin' with Fire," the album combines the fire of "Go for Your Guns" and the melodic offerings of "Harvest for the World."

While the group made several good to above-average follow-up albums, "Showdown" would rank as the last of the truly monster 3+3 sets. Get your hands on it while you can."
I ask for a cd instead of cassette

"Excellant and should have others albums by the Isley Brothers such as Inside You and The Real Deal."
