CD Reviews

Yesterday's Numbers - still cuts it today!!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Depending upon which side of the Groovies fence you sit on - the early Roy Loney side or the subsequent British sound - will probably determine your enjoyment of this album. I for one am a big fan of both. Anyway, this collection is pretty special. It contains tracks from both the classic 'Flamingo' (most of 'em) and 'Teenage Head (ALL of 'em!) albums with a couple of 'live-in-the-studio' classics kicked in for good measure. These albums are deemed to have captured the Groovies Golden Era and who can argue? What impresses me most is the wide variety of styles covered here. I cannot find a dud tune!!! This CD,(along with Groovies Greatest Grooves) is exceptional value for money and a great intro to this much-underrated band. If you don't find yourself playing air guitar to 'Headed For The Texas Border' or 'Teenage Head', then you must be ready to start pushing up the daisies. Turn this one up and give it some stick!!!"
