"There was a Vinyl Album released in 1989 Entitled: "You Done What The Doctor Couldn't Do" on Gospel Jubilee that has been long Out Of Print! This collection features 12 (Twelve) of the 18 (Eighteen) Tracks from that Album! Plus 4 (Four) of the Groups Biggest Hits: "Our Father" A Top Ten Billboard Charted Hit Single! (Which was almost unheard of for a Gospel Record!!!), "Old Ship Of Zion", "Mother Don't Worry", and "Song Of Praise". These Singles were included on "The Best Of" Album on Peacock that is Out Of Print too!. Here's what you get 43 (Forty-Three) covering almost all of the group's first recordings, Plus ALL of their Singles from the Peacock Label (Up to 1954)! People post war Gospel don't get no better than this!!! It should also be noted that there are 2 (Two) songs "Jesus Gave Me Water" and "How Far Am I From Canaan" that has been largely associated with the Soul Stirrers. On the first song Pre-Dates The Soul Stirrers by a year! The second song was recorded a year after The Soul Stirrers version. BOTH are great versions that measure up equally!

There's even MORE recordings from The Five Blind Boys Of Mississippi on the Peacock Label (1955 to 1965). Who knows maybe if we send enough Cards, Letters, Phone Calls to the good folks at Acrobat Records maybe they can dig through the vaults of Peacock Records (The Masters are owned by Universal Music Group), and maybe we'll get treated to another delightful collection of The Five Blind Boys Of Mississippi! In fact, If you (Acrobat) are reading this while you diggin' in the vaults of Peacock Records you might want to consider doing Collections (Compilations) on: Cleophus Robinson, Sister Josephine James, Sensational Nightingales, Dixie Hummingbirds, Jessie Mae Renfro, Victoria & Thelma Hawkins, Just to name a few. There is MORE THAN ENOUGH material to release a Compact Disc (Even Double Discs) on EACH of the above named Artists that the world needs to hear, Especially lovers of good Gospel music!"
Stunning!!

"Don't be fooled. Some of the "Best Of" albums by this group are not their best, and have some really crummy liner notes.

This is a stunning collection with Gospel expert Opal Nations writing the liner notes. This is an album that everyone should have. It contains some of the most instense music ever recorded. Archie Brownlee might be the most crminally underappreciated singer in popular music. James Brown, Ray charles, and a host of others all owe EVERYTHING to this man. Thelate Nappy Brown told many Archie stories, and always ended with.."Nobody followed Archie, or if you did, you never did again."

Not enough stars to even rate this album. I've heard "Our Father" countless times, and still makes the hair stand up in places, I didn't even know I had hair. Buy this now, before it goes out of print.
