Amazon.com The Farrelly brothers, who brought us Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary, have written a humorous tale starring Alec Baldwin, Shawn Hatosy, and George Wendt about a kid whose blue-collar dad ships him off to a prep school to learn how the better half lives. Plenty of classic rock accompanies the kid's travails since the movie has been set in the early 1970s, when The Eagles, Paul McCartney and Wings, and Steely Dan were the obvious soundtrack to one's coming of age. The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" leads things off (much as it summed things up for Spike Lee's Summer of Sam). Free's classic rock staple "All Right Now" (the predecessor to Bad Company) is a natural, as is Lee Michael's rough and tumble "Do You Know What I Mean." And while "Stairway to Heaven" doesn't make an appearance, you can still flick your Bic to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird." --Rob O'Connor Similarly Requested CDs

CD ReviewsClassic! 09/04/1999 (4 out of 5 stars) "Great soundtrack - reminded me of being a little kid (especially the Eagles song, "Take It Easy")and going to rockin' backyard barbecues where I'd steal sips of beer. Classic conglomeration of all the early '70s faves. Such a universal appeal - kids, even though it may feel like you're rummaging through your parents record collection, all of these songs transcend their time periods. I remember singing along to "Free Bird" in the back of a Camero long after the song (and the car!) was in style. Get this soundtrack, and go see the movie, too - it's kind of a chick flick disguised as a guy flick - which means that everyone will like it." Hats off!
