Product Description
Music of the War Years - Remember the Fabulous 40's on 3 CDs, Plus Bonus "World In Conflict" DVD! TMG is proud to bring you the sights and sounds of World War II on this special bonus DVD, World In Conflict, containing almost three hours of historic newsreels and rare archival footage. This is the whole story, beginning with Japan's invasion of China and Germany's buildup and Blitzkrieg into neighboring Czechoslovakia and Poland in 1939. As Germany pounded London during the Battle of Britain and Japan's navy swept unopposed across the Pacific, nations in every corner of the globe were plunged ever deeper into what would become a world-wide conflagration. America's entry into the war, after the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, marked a turning point. By war's end, 16 million American men and women enlisted in the military and countless others toiled at home in the fastest military build-up in history. Working with its Allies, America defeated the forces of darkness in Europe and the Pacific in less than four years, culminating with the fall of Japan and the signing of the peace treaty on the USS Missouri in August 1945. The World In Conflict DVD makes a perfect companion to The Music of the War Years CDs. The singers and musicians on the CDs gave much to the war effort, performing for troops at USO clubs and in battle theaters around the world and at home, keeping spirits high. The music endures, because it makes us sing, it makes us dance, and it reminds us of the courage, tenacity and unwavering spirit of America.
