CD Reviews

Classic TT Quick!!!!!!

"As a long time TT Quick fan, I always hoped they would regroup. Now they have and released Ink. This disc captures the classic TT Quick sound that they mastered on the "Metal of Honor" CD. A must have for any TT Quick fan."
*** 3/4 - Good, nice to see the boys back, but not great.

"Ink.

I about fell over when I heard TT Quick was reuniting. Being out in the northwest NO ONE here had heard of these guys. The Seattle and Portland areas were throwing out great metal - that got all the attention. I would preach the bitchiness of TT Quick though to all that would hear.

I pulled this out of the ol' CD stash recently and had a go with it. I do like it, after all its 'Quick. However, there are differences from the EP or Metal of Honor era stuff. There is more blues influence intertwined in the music and at times its rather dirgy. The band has definetely slowed down and settled more in midpaced power. Thats not a bad thing at all as these guys were almost 20 years older at this recording.

Mark's voice has gotten rougher with time. I don't enjoy his current style as much what he did on the EP. I don't think he sings as much. Thats a nitpick though.

The recording sounds great. Erock's drums just well, rock. Relistening to this album I appreciate him so much more. Very tasteful in what he does. He doesn't overplay, which is a huge asset. His tendancy to get just a touch in front of the music is awesome. Thriftiness is a precious commodity in rock drummers.

Walt sounds great and is mixed well into the tunes.

Dave as always does a great job. I do miss the solos ala Victims from the EP or Siren Song from MOH.. The high searing leads are few and far between here. There is more a lower end dirge sound through this album. I'm not a guitarist but I almost swear there is an alternate tuning Dave is using. I miss the older 'Quick guitar style.

The final opinion here from a old fan? Fabulous to see the boys back, but this record is made from a different place than thier older stuff. The boys are in thier 40s, they have slowed down and musically are in a different place than the old days. That doesn't make it a bad record. It just makes it different. There are no total gems on this album. Its more of a nice steady ride. For that, for the 'Quick fan - get this album.

INK has been on 3 labels since its been released - so grab it before it goes out of print."
