Beyond the land of the studio and up to the power stage

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD of the band Sweet is the first and only legitimate live recording of them that I know of. The song choices were well thought out, and since they don't seem to be listed here at Amazon nor at CD Now, I've listed them below for the benifit of future buyers. All in all this CD really rocks, and so much more than the original studio versions of the songs. Sweet Live At The Marquee - song listingAction

Love is like oxygen
Restless
No you don't
Guitar segue

Drum solo
Set me free
Ballroom blitz
Fox on the run
Shot down in flames (new studio recording)
Over my head (new studio recording)
Jump the fence (new studio recording)
Reach out...I'll be there (new studio recording)If you like the studio Sweet then I'd highly recommend this CD, for a glimpse of them going at it LIVE. Like many live recordings from various groups there often seems to be a different energy output in general, in comparison to the studio concoctions, and this the CD is no exception to the rule. The songs on this CD are much more than precise duplicates of the studio work, rather they are powerhouse creations for the sake of the live audience present. They definately seem to be able to hold their own on the stage. The most amazing thing about this live concert, is the vocals. Brian Connoly's voice [I assume it is Brian singing - the CD doesn't say, but it does have a picture of him in concert on the cover] seems to have taken on a different quality from the studio recordings. It seems a lot more mature/powerful [full] sounding, and at times his high notes, are reminiscent of singers like "Bruce Dickenson - Queens Reich", or "Ronnie James Dio" etc. The 4 studio track are good also. This concert by Sweet is like you've never heard them before. Anyway enough of reviewing, just buy the CD - you won't regret it."
