CD Reviews

Patchy, not too inspiring

"I've only heard 2 albums of suns, the other one is something else which is better than this. It starts off well with a rousing frisco fog, then there is endless noodling on keyboards, it sounds sloppy enough..there are a few songs sung and they overstay their welcome. Overall i think you should check out other albums i was disappointed with this one."
You NEED to have the Cosmo Song

"Ok, I'm writing this from Spain, land of common Sun Ras. And I'm sorry, but I don't owe this record. How can I talk anything about it then? Easy. It's the only official -or almost- recording by Sun Ra (along the much rarest Sun Ra and His Year 2000 Myth Science Arkestra, a 90's Wire Mag present) which contains an usual tune of the Arkestra those days, the irresistible happy Cosmo Song. You may see it performed live also in the Live in Washington DVD issued recently, containing two 1987 concerts by the Arkestra and the one and only jazz piper Rufus Harley. If you get to see that amazing song with June Tyson singing along with the guys you'll understand why I'm writing this.

Sun Ra fans - go for it! If only it'd have their ocasional live version of Love in Outer Space then it would be a perfect joyful record despite its poor sound.

Now SO LONG! !! going back to my interplanetary dimension!! ...ffft"
