(5 out of 5 stars)

"This started as a project to record poems set to music by poet Fay Hart. 4 of these made it to the album. The rest
are SG's typical 'whisper quiet country blues meets downtown emo.' She charts a territory that's pretty unique-- though it's
a bit like The Mary Janes. This one's maybe the most country sounding of her solos, so some might dislike that, though not on every song. Much more accomplished (& understated) than the more overblown atmospherics of Caitlin Cary's solo or Chuck Prophet's "Hurting Business" IMO. And nice too to see songs by her former Shams partner Amanda Uprichard & Johathan Thomas of The Zephyrs. Like "STILL" or "TO RUN MORE SMOOTHLY" it's quiet-- but this is terrific avant stuff. Her husband Rick Brown does a bunch of stuff & Sonic Youth's Jim O'Rourke guests on one track."
