CD Reviews

For the guy who made the comment

"comment guy, that comment really made me laugh. not mocking you it was just funny because you were so right its like you read my mind but i always consider a waste to comment. but i'm here to prove myself wrong.

I'm not a great reviewer. I have trouble staying on point and can't describes things in such a way to do them justice. I go off on tangents like this. However, I believe i can give you what you are looking for.

I agree with what you are saying blues must be experienced live to get the real power and that a lot of the albums are boring and really do nothing more than provide as a jupming off point for live shows. I will say that is less true with blues rock. There are quite a few great blues rock albums. Even there, like most real music played by talented musicians who care, the live music blues it away. Anyway, the point I am making is that this is most definitely a blues rock album, and if i had to say it is one or the other i'd call it rock. heavy blues influence of course, but if you're a blues purist or someone who gets hung up on label(oh that isnt the blues theres a wah petal guy im talking to you) stay away. And yes, studio though it may be, this one is definitely worth owning if you are a fan of the genre or music in general.

If you like heavy heavy groovy blues rock with the best blues rock backing band this young reviewer has ever heard(since eric czar left bonamassa) then you will like this. there is more psychedelia in here than most blues, but maybe not as much as the stoney label or logo may imply. behind the sun for example is on of the only slow tracks on the album. brilliant guitar and really thoughful lyrics as well.

another thing to point out about this album is the attitude. that is something i rarely if ever care about one way or the other but here it adds a lot. this is just one cool cat playing here, youll know what im talking about after the first song. Oh yeah what I said about the thoughtful lyrics on behind the sun, that was a one time thing. the other lyrics are not bad by any means, but thoughtful would not be the right word. you don't buy an album like this for the lyrics, but i would say they are a little more original than usual though the topics are typical blues, and just cool and funny in some spots

I'd say he is my favorite player in blues rock and favorite vocalist. that is because i like heavier music and this is some of the heaviest blues rock there is. not quite as heavy as lance lopez but not nearly as sloppy either(i still love lance). the guy is really phenomenal. recommend to fans of most grooveyard artists, popa chubby, and anyone who loves blues rock, particularily those where it leans more towards rock. i'd say as far as heaviness goes, stoney curtis is on par with eric gales, but with a rougher voice. they don't really sound anything alike but strictly talking heaviness they are similar."

"Great Rocking Blues CD. This guy is a real player. Not a bad cut on the disc. His "Alive and Unleashed" is a must have. I have ordered "Acid Blues Experience" to complete the set. Great guitar player! You won't be sorry"
