Synopsis

Displaying an amazingly diverse vocal talent, Steve Green's 24th recording mixes guitar-driven pop, Gregorian chants, symphonic ballads, and Appalachian bluegrass with equal aplomb. The plentiful highlights include Green's gritty performance on "If We Answer," recorded with Out of the Grey's Scott and Christine Dente. Green gets more organic with the Celtic-tinged "Sacrifice of Praise" and the folkloric "O Pilgrim Come," the latter from the top-selling O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack. He changes gears once again on "Non Nobis Domine," the big-production chant taken from the Henry V soundtrack. Green seems to revel in Woven in Time's rich sampling of different styles as he takes the listener on a joyful ride. --Michael Lyttle

Songs of praise, voice of gold
Alejandra Vernon | Long Beach, California | 12/19/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"With a golden voice and exquisite artistry, Steve Green has given the world a masterful collection of songs with this CD; it is one of the best contemporary Christian music albums I have heard, with lovely melodies and uplifting lyrics.
Steve co-wrote "I Will Go", and the tender "Holding Hands", about God's daily grace in a good marriage; all eleven songs are strong, with my favorite being "Thread of Scarlet", written by Wes King, who plays classical guitar in the first version on track # 2, and it is given a fuller treatment in the short reprise on track # 11.
Overall, the songs are serene and soft ballads, with the exception of the upbeat "If We Answer", the gospel flavored "Grace and Nothing More" which builds to a mighty conclusion, and the traditional "Non Nobis Nomine", where Steve unleashes the power and range of his voice. The arrangements and musicianship are excellent throughout, and the booklet insert contains all the lyrics. Total time is 48'28.With his beautiful voice and good looks, Steve could have been a pop icon, but chose to use his talents as a ministry instead, and in his prolific recording career (in Spanish as well as English) of nearly 20 years, this CD released in 2002 is a treasure, and is sure to fill your heart and bless your soul."
A new clasic
Alejandra Vernon | 07/30/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"As usual, he has created another clasic. It is the best CD he has put out in recent years. The words to his songs are profound and express what many chistians have experienced. Only the truly committed could sing some of these songs. Worth every penny."
