CD Reviews

Voice of an angel, mind of a pretzel...

"This guy is so twisted...he thinks like I do!! If these songs were baseball pitches, they's all be changeups. He starts out with these incredibly beautiful guitar licks, he adds a honeyed voice and words of rapturous wonder to lull you into complacency then...WHAM!!!!...right between the eyes, out of left field, no idea it was coming, you get a double-dose of perversity so stunning, you can't stop laughing in time to catch all the words. So you listen again...and again. And even when you've finally heard ALL the words, you listen again, because you just can't believe it's happening. This guy could have been a serious actor, musician or poet, but anyone with a dose of talent could have been any of those. Not many could have blended all those talents into this one hilarious package; if he comes to your town, or one of his specials is on TV, consider him a must-see. Until then, don't pass by this CD; Stephen Lynch is a rare genius."
So Funny........and So WRONG!!! A Guilty Pleasure!

"First thing's first: DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING THIS CD IF YOU EASILY GET OFFENDED! IF YOU HAVE NO SENSE OF HUMOR WHATSOEVER, DO NOT GET THIS CD!Okay, now that I've said that, Stephen Lynch's "A Little Bit Special" is a HILLARIOUS comedy music album that will have you laughing and cringing at the same time. Don't let the soft tone singing and mellow guitar playing fool you: this CD is VICIOUS and spares no one! Here's a little sample of what to expect; from the song, "gerbil":"I bought a gerbil at the petting zoo / if Richard Gere can do it, I can too"(get the picture now?)My favorite songs are "lullaby," "half a man," "special," "a month dead," "priest," "gerbil," "mother's day song," and "Jim Henson's dead." The songs are so wrong but so hillarious at the same time. That "Parental Advisory" sticker is on the cover for a reason. Not really for profanity, but the content of the songs. The songs are very cleverly written. Lynch has a really good singing voice, and is a great guitar player. Although the first time I heard a song I didn't know what to think. It took me a few times of hearing "lullaby" to realize how funny this guy is. And as soon as I saw the CD out, I knew I had to have it.A very hillarious album that has an outstanding replay value. Lynch can be heard on the Opie and Anthony show. I hope he comes out with a new album sometime soon. Stephen Lynch's "A Little Bit Special" is just that. "Special." Check this one out when you can."
Even if I didn't want to marry him, I would still love this!

"Oh, how Stephen Lynch has grown from his humble beginnings on the O&A show...this is musical genius. Every song on this CD is not only stomach-twisting laughter, but it's actually good music! If the subject matter discussed on the CD were a little more "radio friendly," Stephen Lynch would be even bigger news! He is a talented musician with a gift for words. His sweet voice and accompanying guitar work, if played as background music, could almost be mistaken for "adult contemporary pop." Once you realize what you are hearing, the experience is changed for the better! He poignantly tackles such subjects as dating a hermaphrodite, encounters with a gerbil, stalking an actress, gay attraction to his friend, having only one testicle, his "special" friend, and (my favorite) explaining to his daughter why her mother left them. These songs are not only catchy and memorable, but you begin to wonder if they could have been written from personal experience- they are that emotional and thoughtful. This is one of the best CD's I own. It is hysterical, musically sound, mildy offensive, and well worth the money. Oh, and if you ever get the chance to see him do a live show, you will laugh even harder. Buy it. Love it. Tell your friends!"
