Holy crap. Just get it. Remember that one weird-lookin' dish on the buffet that you dared yourself to try? Remember how awful it was? OK, bad analogy. But this record is a friggin' masterpiece. It's indie-pop craftsmanship of the highest order. Quirky, fun, and infectious as the severe cramps you got after eating at that buffet. What the hell was that anyway?

""Wow", was the first thing I said. I first heard this doing college radio and loved it. There is hardly any other artist that could possibly touch what Spookey was doing. He has a great voice and everything musically is so unique and fits so perfect. Actually, this guy belongs in a looney bin in Canada. He is from Canada though... I have noticed lately that most of my favorite things are coming out of Canada."

"Maybe it's because I'm old and worn out. Maybe it's because everything these days sounds like processed cheese. Maybe I bought this because the british music magazine Mojo said this was "Kate Bush and the Beach Boys in a blender." Whatever the reason, I LOVE it! So many great songs--and done with a flourish of humor, too. I love it when weird is well done and this is a perfect example of really great weird. You'll never hear this guy on mainstream radio, because he's TOO GOOD! Why hasn't he put anything out since this--I'm waiting! Perhaps Spookey has transmogrified into a sputnik and he's now circling the earth. If so, I'm inclined to join him...Spookey wait for me!"
