CD Reviews

Top electronic ambient album
Jay M | Dublin, Ireland | 10/13/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"One of the classic ambient albums of all time. It still impresses me to this day with its magical sound and its vast superiority over its competitors. When you are listening to this album you find yourself asking, how could these sounds come from machines? Track by track it shows an artist who has finally managed to show what electronic ambient music is capable of.The only word I can use to describe this album is magical. Perfect for late night star gazing, relaxing or just a daytime listen."
Swirls, bubbles and synths.
S. Beardow | Canberra, ACT Australia | 11/10/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album gets a lot of bad press. I have never understood why, if not being criticised for some tracks being beat driven its being criticised for the other tracks lack of beats. This album is, without a doubt a techno ambient classic, in the same, fractural, non-linear vein (but taking you to a much different place) as FSOL's "Lifeforms". These tracks (with the exception of the first one) follow the ambient axiom: freedom from structure and a dominance of atmosphere.

The albums rolls along with some of the most beautiful synthesizer washes, blips, bells and FX I have ever heard, and because of the dominance of these typical electronic sounds it may fall victim to sounding dated, but really, does the guitar loose it's beauty because it has been used a thousand times before? Why must this apply to the synthesizer? These sounds can be truly trance inducing. A dark room with good headphones and this album makes for a fantastic night of travelling to other worlds. I thoroughly recommend it to all escapists, stoners and people who appreciate the sounds of the synthesizer."
VERY IMPORTANT RELEASE

"For anyone who has ever listened to ambient music, or even anything chilled out, this is a must buy. Jonah sharp has really mastered a phenominal sound with his debut release. Every track a staple. Great bass, melodies, and enough weird sounds to bring you back for more and MORE everytime. I have owned this album for 5 years and still love it!"
