Anyone who loves music mostly loves Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. Me too. I have over twenty versions of The Four Seasons collected over the years. Despite plentiful new recordings in the market, I still like one of the oldest productions, recorded in early 50's, played by an Italian orchestra. It has that that magic of vividness, nature's atmosphere and energy that I have found no peers. I have never dreamt of producing another recording of this beloved piece in the light of its being very over-recorded. However, two years ago, during a visit to one of my distributors, I heard him playing this recording and I was captivated. The distributor urged me to see if I could enhance the sound even better and come up in a SACD format. It was a Divox production from Switzerland. I took the disc home and listened and listened.
Eight months later, I met the owner of the recording, Mr. Wolfram M. Burgert of Appassionato AG in New York. Wolfram, a gracious young entrepreneur, has cast me his vote of trust. Two months later, an agreement has reached. Paul Stubblebine, FIM's mastering engineer, and I worked hard to squeeze every bit of music from the master tape. And here it comes in all its glory in the SACD format - a really special Vivaldi's The Four Seasons!
