CD Reviews

Well worth the year and a half wait.

"This album was supposed to come out when I was 10. Well, not really. It just feels like it was supposed to. Ferret Records would hype up this album for so long till it came out. I got into this band when they released their flawless MCD on Goodlife Records. This is equally amazing, if not better. It's been a long time in the works, but it's been well worth the wait. I am so bad about describing the sound of bands unless they are blatantly ripping off some other band. I'll try with this one. I guess people have always tried to compare Poison the Well and Skycamefalling with each other. I sort of agree there. I mean, Skycamefalling definetly does the sleak emotional metalcore mixed with some singing parts. Except the singing parts in here are more monotonous and depressing, which is cool cause it fits with their ever progressing style of suicidal metalcore (read the lyrics, especially of the old CD). Their live performane is also flawless, and they are just the nicest people. I think they are touring so check them out."

"in a world where bands like the backstreet boys and britney spears can achieve fame and worldwide recongnition by singing songs they didn't even write and were in no way part of the creative process, skycamefalling are the reminder that if you dig deep enough through today's superficial music industry you will find music filled with real emotion. when i first heard skycamefalling i didn't listen past the screaming and the heavy riffs, but after a lot of people pestered me to give 10.21 a real chance, i finally heard what all of my friends had been describing. this CD is incredible, a genuine brilliant achievment, and i am a guy who loves led zepplin, grateful dead, eric clapton, etc, so i do know what i am saying, and i do know the praise i am heaping upon this band. in the genre of emotional hardcore/screamo, these guys have almost produced a whole new medium with which to express emotion. instead of the melody driven songs of bands like dashboard confessional and the juliana theory, they have stripped the music down, sometimes to the bare essentials, and in this rawness there is an amazing honesty of emotion. at the same time, these guys are great musicians, listen to the song '10.21' or the interlude song #5, or even the quiet breakdown in the middle of 'laura palmer'. it almost seem that you must break through the surface of skycamefalling's music to get a true appreciation of the contribution they are making. all the songs are long, full of many different parts - both quiet and heavy, and the songs all need to be listened to in full before a real judgement can be made, because the songs change so much throughout their duration.i highly recommend this album... and i heard these guys are incredible live.if you want to get a taste of what you are getting into, i recommend downloading these songs: 'laura palmer', 'the nothing', 'healing yesteryear' (the end of this song is incredible), '10.21' and 'the truth machine'."
Greatest band. Period. They will be missed.

"Awesome. The only (hardcore) band other than Endeavor I could get my girlfriend to listen to...AND ENJOY! I can't even explain them. It's an experience you need to hear for yourself. I originally got it from a friend who was telling me "This band is gonna blow up like MAD! You gotta hear 'em!" I listened to the couple tracks he was raving mad about and didn't really care too much for it. A few months later at the Cryptopsy tour I noticed the drummer for Poison the Well was wearing a Skycamefalling shirt. I thought I'd give them another try and listened to a track of my choice, With Paper Wings. After listening to it, I HAD to go out and buy the CD. The best song off the album is Laura Palmer, hands down. There are 2 versions of it floating around. The studio version on the CD (as opposed to the unmastered version) is light years better. Ever since then I've been dying to see them on tour and haven't been able to make it to any of the shows. And now the band is calling it quits after they finish their tour and play a final show in their home town of Syracuse, NY. Crap. Oh, well, maybe I'll take the bus, cuz this band is THAT GOOD."
