CD Reviews

Sensual Artistry

"After hearing this CD, I fell in love with Simone Hines. I would purchase anything she puts out in the future because she demonstrates smooth, silky, and sassy R & B rhythm. Simone has the vocal range to stimulate a variety of listeners. She adds tender lyrics, romantic flavor, and sex appeal through each song set, and appears to be singing from her personal experiences. I truly appreciate Simone and look forward to her next CD."
Her voice--5 stars, her material--2 stars

"Just another one of those vocally able stars who may never get a second chance in this industry. Simone Hines gives me Regina Belle flashbacks and her cover of "Best of My Love" is brilliant. And while the production is lovely (see the piano-driven "I'm Ready"), the lyrics are not. She needed some better songwriters to bring out the flavor she brought us with "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" (not to mention better promotion), and maybe then all of us would have been yelling out those same three words when this album dropped in 1997."

"Listening to this dics again made me a little sad because although there's no doubt that this woman is talented and could have built a career in the industry, she will probably never get another chance to shine as a solo artist.

Her voice on some songs is just as beautiful & reminiscent of Toni Braxton but unfortunately she did not have that "breakout" hit to propel the album into the public's mind.

The standout tracks to me are:

A CHANCE TO LOVE - my personal favorite, really beautiful song, beautiful arrangement & vocal performance

WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE - my second fav

YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!

WHAT DIFFERENCE - although the lyrics and track as a whole are so-so, her vocal performance is terrific

EVERY NOW & THEN

The following are more of the "filler" variety but are enjoyable nonetheless: EVERY LITTLE THING, NEVER BEEN ALONE, I'M READY & RICHEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD

I agree with a previous comment that perhaps with better material, Simone Hines would be a more household name in the r&b arena rather than an "also ran". If she were ever to put out another disc, I would purchase it without question."
