Shirley takes the legacy started by Aretha and brings us a modern version of blues/soul. Her range and depth of emotion are incredible, again reminiscent of Aretha's early days. The songs and arrangements on this CD are for you IF you like what is mostly black gospel music with secular themes.We need more singers today like Ms. Shirley Brown, a fabulous singer -- and diva in her own right -- that's not afraid to belt it out sometimes. If you want to add someone to your collection that can just downright "sang," you can't go wrong with this one. Enjoy."
