Bite Me?

(4 out of 5 stars)

"5 Stars for Jab It In Yore Eye 3.5 for First Water. To be honest I rarely listen to First Water with Andy Fraser on bass. Busta Cherry Jones changed everything in the mix when his rocksteady funky progressive playing was added to the mix. Speaking of mix Jab it in Yore Eye had a vastly superior sonic palette than the first album. Chris Spedding the legendary session player finally played clean beautifully soulful almost bluesy guitar with sympathetic musicians. "Snips" is perfect on lead vocals and the genre of writing was first rate for the era. Lovers of early Joe Cocker, Steve Cropper and James Jamerson are going to love this music"

"The singing reminds me of Joe Cocker, fantastic. The music a soulful, bluesy, rock. It takes me back to my youth in the 70's and yet plays very well today. Old Jelly Roll and World Park Junkies stand out, but the entire First Water album can be played in it's entirety over and over. As for Jab It in Your Eye, I have not heard it in over 20 years. If memory serves me it was a great addition to this band's work. They only produced 2 albums, to my knowledge, and yet they remain my favorite band year after year."
