CD Reviews

A purely solid album
Bob | Manchester, MD | 02/21/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Produced by Travis Wyrick (Pillar, Disciple, and POD) this album iks filled from beginning to end with heavy hitting guitar riffs. The lyrics are faith based and each song makes you think. Josh Clark's vocals are solid on each song and all the screams are well placed. There are many solos on this CD and all of them are great. This CD is just solid and really good. This band is going places."
In-Depth Review of Seventh Seal's S/T Debut
Guitar Chik | USA | 02/19/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The hard-driving guitar riffs, awesome drum beats, and amazing bass under positive, well-written lyrics and gorgeous vocals give Seventh Seal an amazing sound on their first CD. Even the song order on the CD is perfect, taking you from hard to harder to soft back to hard back to soft and closes out the way it came in, rocking.

The first song on the CD, also the first single, "Forsaken," is a beautiful blend of the lyrical, vocal, and instrumental talents of the band members. The best part of this song is the spectrum of vocal styles used. Singing, screaming, and whispering used interchangeably help lead you through the emotion of the song. The lyrics also have a positive message: don't try to make yourself happy with what the world has to offer.

The second song on the CD, "Apathy," is even harder than the first. The guitar on this song is some of the best guitar on the CD. The lyrics are also wrriten beautifully, calling for people to listen to the truth, and not to not care.

Number 3, "Martyr," challenges listeners to think about whether or not what they believe in is worth dying for. The awesome guitar solo in the middle of the song gives you some headbang time between screaming out the words with the band.

"Eden," the fourth track on the CD, continues the tradition of amazing guitar riffs, along with a nice high-pitched riff between the lines of the verses. The bass also shines through on this song. Vocals on the chorus are perfect, and so are the lyrics: "Why can't we all just live/ Not denying ourselves of anything/ Why are things so attractive/ For great is the gap to Eden."

"Tear Away," the fifth song on the album, is a nice song to mellow out to. The bass rocks on this song, and the guitar quiets down nicely for a slow song. It's awesome how the vocals also adjust to something quieter, and the elements of the band fit together as perfectly as on any of the harder songs.

"It Has Begun," not only the sixth track on the CD, but also the band's motto, takes you back to the harder side of Seventh Seal. The vocals on this song help take you into the different sections. Again, the guitar solo gives you something to headbang to between the chorus and bridge at the end.

The CD slows back down to give you a break after the hardcore "It Has Begun" on the seventh track, "Daylight Bleeds." The vocals on this song are some of the best on the CD, along with the drum beats. The deep lyrics bring it all together: "Daylight Bleeds and drowns a good man/ If only the sunlight could fall on the faces."

The eigth track on the CD is "Revelation." The first best thing on this track is the drums, so complex and so fitting they'll get you lost in the song. The next best thing about this track is that it has some of the best lyrics on the entire album. The lyrics are both deep: "Everything changes when/ Darkness falls across this/ Land of eternal unity/ The moon bleeds and the sun dies," and true: "There will be a revelation/ There will be one nation."

"Convenient Homicide," song number 9, takes you back to the awesome guitar blending with the awesome drums. Again, the lyrics, about the evils of abortion, are one of the best attributes to the song: "Blood pours like tears/ Over the hands of those/ Who will not abide by/ The Word of Truth/ Innocent souls/ Torn from their bodies/ Heaven receives them/ As Hell lies waiting." The vocals are awesome on this song, especially the deep voices and the screaming used in different parts of the verses.

The tenth and final song, "Isomorph," gives the listener something to rock out to. Nathan shines on this song, which has the best bass on the entire CD. The 1-minute-long intro somewhat puts the listener in a state of suspense, waiting for the song to start. The band delivers, with hard guitar and incredible bass that continue throughout the song under awesome screaming vocals. The best part of the song is the bridge, which contrasts with the rest of the song in that it is much softer. The lyrics in the bridge are amazing: "Fear spawns disbelief/ Credibilty founded on science/ If they knew what they thought they knew/ The last star would burn out."

All in all, it is an awesome CD, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes to rock. And to anyone who likes faith-based, deep lyrics."
Seventh Seal surprised me

"I produce a program on WKTO 88.7 fm radio that brings metal with a message to the listeners of the Daytona Beach area. I had recently heard a Seventh Seal track and wanted to bring this sound to the FL listeners.

Man ... was I shocked. Typically there are only one or two tracks on a CD that I can stomach. It makes it kinda tough to spend money when you know you are not going to get value.

SEVENTH SEAL is worth all the money... and then some. Every single track rocks!

This band is now the most requested band on our playlist. Forsaken and Martyr are my favorite songs but you will be pleased with all that you hear.
