CD Reviews

The man is AMAZING!!
Susan Smart Poole | West Palm Beach, FL | 11/29/2006

"The first time I saw Sarasota Slim was at Sloppy Joe's back in the mid- eighties..he was one of the most polished guitarists that I had ever seen then and he still is now. (And I had the priviledge of witnessing a jam session with Les Paul and Charlie Byrd back in the 60's)

Anything this man puts out is stellar...

and ,damn, we had a helluva' time that night back in the 80's at Sloppy Joe's......."
Slim = classy blues

"Sarasota Slim is a local legend. And he deserves to bigger than that.
He and his band play what I like to call Florida Blues, much like the Smokehouse band. It's, obviously, Delta influenced, and more akin to that than it is to Stevie Ray Vaughn's guitar-driven Texas Blues. But don't write Slim off as a plain ol' bluesman. He plays two different old Strats live and a steel guitar, plus a SG and a semi-hollow Gibson with a hopped-up classic Fender amp and he smokes when he plays 'em. Plus, his current (1/03) keyboardman (Dean Germain, a cool dude in his own right) plays an old, beat up Hammond B2 so you can be assured an authentic and classic sound. Not only is he tight live but his studio material is original yet traditional. This album is, and all his others are, totally balls-to-the-wall classic blues. Nothing popish about it.
And if you meet him at a gig he's gonna hang out and BS about guitars, blues, influences or anything else you talk with him about: he's a very cool, down-to-earth person.
I'm not affiliated with Slim at all, I'm just a fan. But Slim, and guys like him, deserve to be heard all night/every night.If you're a blues fan you *will not* be disappointed with Slim's work.
