Synopsis

Product Description
Listening to Way Back Home is like finding SARAH BLACKWOOD's diaryÉfeeling bad about reading it, then getting completely immersed and captivated by the beauty, sincerity and heartfelt urgency that she pours into every word. SARAH BLACKWOOD grew up listening to her fathers rock and roll record collection. When she was 12 her father handed her a guitar, taught her the basics, and from there she has grown as a musician and an artist. Sarah has gained experience over the past year playing solo shows in Toronto, Canada (where she now lives) and also through touring and writing with legendary psychobilly band THE CREEPSHOW. There are no antics and no special effects when it comes to her music and live show, just raw acoustic rock coming straight from the heart. Her music is influenced by old country and rock music. It is incredibly personal, poetic and hopeful.. A sweet heart with an acoustic guitar singing about love, demons she has faced, and different times in her life that have brought her down, picked her up and made these songs what they are.

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Blackwood proves a competent singer/songwriter, and at the very least has a very strong voice. Her vocals lean toward the more polished side of her Sarah Sin persona (she's the frontwoman for the horror/pyscho-billy band "The Creepshow"),so fans of the band may have to get used to this side of Sarah throughout the entire cd.

The tracks switch back and forth between "sunny country" love ballads (Dyin' Day) and rockabilly with lyrics a little on the darker side (Lonely Parade).

Personally, I love the album, I think every song is great. But as a whole, the genre switches in the album may be hard for fans of The Creepshow and new listeners to get used to.

Overall this album deserves 4 stars because each of the tracks is undeniably great, the album is no way near perfect, but it's definitely worth a listen if you're tired of "popular" female singer song-writers who appear talented when they do drugs on stage or repeat the lines "i kissed a girl and i liked it" for an entire song."
