SANDRA IS EXCELLENT !!!
04/17/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Everlasting Love is an EXCELLENT collection of Sandra's mid to late '80's European pop hits for anyone who has never heard of her but is interested ! It is a slick combination of dance, pop-rock and r & b songs from her Long Play, Mirrors, and Into A Secret Land , albums (all imports). And, yes, many critics have compared her vocals to the likes of Madonna, Kate Bush, Cyndi Lauper and Paula Abdul. Sandra would later become the sensual female voice heard on the Enigma albums. For music listeners who cannot tolerate or stand to listen to the pop, dance sound of this type of music, you may very well find yourself becoming addicted to her vocals and the music ( for the most part, on the Enigma albums she does not sing but rather recites lyrics; Whereas on her own albums she actually sings in a sensual velvety, whispy [almost nasal at times] type of voice). Everlasting Love is a U.S. release. The European version was titled Ten On One and included a track titled Stop for A Minute not found on this album version. However, the European version does not include several tracks as found on the U.S. release from her Into A Secret Land album. At any rate, the Everlasting Love collection's highlights are Maria Magdalena, Secret Land, In the Heat of the Night, Little Girl, and Loreen; Everlasting Love (album title, re-make, re-mix version) track does not fare as well and has a rather generic Euro-80's dance/techno sound. In total sum, this album showcases the best of her 80's music; Not until the 90's did her music change into a more sophisticated Enigma-like-sound,yet, maintaining a more conventional pop-rock, r&b flavor ! Everlasting Love rates 5 stars for showcasing what EXCELLENT dance-club music of the 80's sounded like !!! (5 stars for the artist, writer, producer, musicians, etc.)."
