It starts off with the highly amusing 'Carnival of the Animals' of Saint Saens, moves on to Ravel's 'Mother Goose Suite', Bizet's 'Children's Games', Dukas' 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' and closes with a bang-up Ravel 'Bolero'. The first several pieces are conducted by Sir Alexander Gibson, the last two by James Loughran. All were recorded in the mid to late 70's and the sound quality is consistently first rate throughout. All in all, this is a very satisfying collection of these short works, and the program works very nicely."
