CD ReviewsA great bargain for Markevitch fans Santa Fe Listener | Santa Fe, NM USA | 09/18/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "This twofer is filled out with a couple of performances by Lorin Maazel, but the bulk is conducted by Igor Markevitch with his usual incisiveness and intensity. Markevitch was a better conductor before his disastrous hearing loss in the early Sixties. Even so, his great talent and individuality shine through, and the orchestral playing here is generaly better than he got from lesser orchestras, the kind he found himself conducing as he dropped form the first rank. Like Scherhcen and Horenstein, Markevitch is a cult conductor who is very much worth hearing."
