"Because I know some people wonder, Russell Peters is a comedian of Indian heritage (that's India, not American Indian) who is himself Canadian. A strange mix, true, but it makes for great comedy material in America.

Peters is one of the rarer sort of comedians; the sort who have toured the globe and actually picked up more knowledge than what a country's comedy clubs are like. His humor is mostly about the differences between races and cultures but - and this is a very important but - he is NOT insulting to any of them. Rather, he stands back and looks at the big picture and laughs at the little misunderstandings that make the situations so awkward or just plain wrong. This isn't the heavy-handed humor that's come to be so predominant in the comedy world: the obscenity-filled shock-fest or the goofy funny-faces-and-weird-noises brands of "humor." There are some curse words but he doesn't base his jokes around them or use them constantly without reason. Peters is intelligent and incisive without being condescending so you can learn something while you never lose that laughter."
