Nice Ruby

"This CD was originally recorded for the Jazztone label in 1955. The personnel is: Braff (trumpet), Billy Byers (trombone), Sam Margolis (tenor sax), Marty Napolean (piano), Milt Hinton (bass), and Jo Jones (drums). "Only a blues" is taken up-tempo and swings beautifully as does Braff's original composition "Flakey." Ruby's tone is gorgeous as usual, and Billy Byers punches hard when needed, but also can play lyrically behind a mute. The sound is very good. Recommended."
