CD ReviewsQuite possibly the best " Country Music Album ever" John Little | Independence, ky USA | 04/07/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "First let me admit my bias. I am tremendous fan of Roy Acuff. This album in my opinion is the best country album ever. If one really wants to know something about the music, it is a must have. Roy Acuff influenced and helped many now legendary artists (i.e.: Hank Williams, Little Jimmy Dickens).
These recording on this disc are not the originals. This album was originally released in 1955, then reissued with a different cover in 1963. I believe this was his first long playing album. The cuts on it are in some ways superior to the originals. They are of a higher fidelity, and are polished by countless performances over the years. His voice is strong and clear. Each title is a classic. Like they say nobody sings a Roy Acuff song better than Roy Acuff. GET THIS ONE." |
