CD Reviews

Only 1/2 Rolf Harris

(3 out of 5 stars)

"This is a fun children's CD, but is not what I expected or wanted. Rolf only sings about 1/2 of the songs on this CD. A lot of the songs are traditional children's tunes that I've never heard him sing. One of the songs is a remake of his REALLY fun song "Tie the Kangaroo Down," with The Wiggles. This is a natural pairing as both Rolf Harris and The Wiggles are from Ausrtalia. If you have small children, I recommend this CD. Rolf Harris is a "classic." I wish it had been available 5 years ago. I have an 8- and 10-year-old. They love Rolf Harris' hilarious songs, such as "I Want My Mommy" and the hippo song. They have another Rolf Harris CD, but it is for adults and has a few songs on it that I feel are inappropriate (Cigarettes & Alcohol, The Pub with no Beer, etc.) I was hoping that this CD had Rolf's appropriate-for-children songs (Waltzing Matilda, and those mentioned above), but not the inappropriate ones. Well, I was wrong. It was an expensive mistake. My boys didn't even want to listen to this CD. They said, "Someone else is singing this," when they heard "Tie my Kangaroo Down." But, if they were littler, they'd enjoy this CD, a lot and it would be a great way to expose them to some different songs by a great artist."
