Aside from his work with Deep Purple, Glover has also performed with, written and produced artists such as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Nazareth, Spencer Davis Group, Ian Gillan, Rory Gallagher, Michael Schenker and Status Quo amongst many others. This album will again be issued with its original artwork as featured on the vinyl release some 20 years ago and bonus sleevenotes are also included.

A few diamonds in the rough

"Mask is Roger Glover's 3rd solo album -- finally reissued on CD -- and it's pretty typical mid-80's AOR (album-oriented rock) fare, but it contains two lost gems highly worthy of praise: "Divided World" and "The Mask". "Divided World" is by far the most infectious song on the album and should have received more airplay back in the day, however the slightly ominous and funky title track did get its share of airplay and rotation on MTV. "Divided World" is reminiscent of The Police and power popsters The Producers, featuring some great harmonies in the chorus. "Getting Stranger" is another lesser single from the album that is noteworthy. The rest is unfortunately not particularly engaging, including an obligatory rocker ("Dancin' Again") and some reggae-inflected tunes ("Fake It","Don't Look Down"). Still, this reissue is worth owning for the solid 3 opening songs."
