CD Reviews

YAY! Another Terrific Brazilian songstress
David B | San Francisco, CA | 05/02/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I purchased this CD last winter in Rio de Janeiro before it became available in the US. I really love this CD. Roberta sings both new and classic Brazilian songs that you may be familiar with without realizing. Her voice tingles on high notes the special way some female Portuguese speakers sound. The music is generally light and joyous with one or two heart rending ballads mixed in. She covers an array of Brazilian musical forms on this CD, from Chorro to Samba and beyond. This has become one of my favorite CD's."
Chic, stylish, simple and with roots - all at the same time.
C. Rebello | Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | 11/23/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you like Braseiro - the previous álbum, you should give yourself another gift and buy this one.

She's singing even more clearer, performing some pearls of the brazilian music. She can be stylish, chic and simple when she sings. Enough said, I am a fan of her since 2001. Seeing her perfoming live is a proof of what the brazilian current musical scenario needs, not only the brazilian one, but the worlds.

Some people compare her to Marisa Monte, Maria Rita, some compare to Ceu, some compare to Joyce ( at the beginning of her carreer ), honestly speaking, she shouldn't be compared to anyone. She is Roberta and she has comquered her space, with good music and performance. She is here to stay, let's hope for long. This CD is worth every cent and even more."
Solid contemporary electro-bossa
Robert J. Falgiano | Buffalo, NY | 10/14/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"i'd have gone 4.5 stars if i could. Sa has one of the most gorgeous, flowing voices i've ever heard. i'd gladly listen to her in any style, it just so happens that bossa is her game. this is a great record - inventive arrangements and instrumentation, rhythmically pleasing melodies. just enough in common with the roots of bossa to win over purists while also exploring the possibilities of technology married to groove."
