CD Reviews

"Hellbilly Deluxe" Deluxe!
Reeser-cups | the past, present, and future | 11/23/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"In buying the deluxe edition of "hellbilly deluxe" not only do you get the original cd, but a new sleeve with completely new artwork and a dvd with a video for every song on the cd and two bonus videos (for the living dead girl remix and another song that was remixed on "american made music to strip by"). It really is a great buy, especially if you don't already have this cd, in which you should definately consider purchasing this as it is one of the best rock cds of the 90's (in my humble opinion). But I must say that if you already have "hellbilly deluxe" then buy this only if you are a hardcore Rob Zombie fan (which was my case). There are no new songs, just videos that (from my understanding...) Rob Zombie shot himself. They are cool and entertaining, but since "past, present, & future" is available it has a dvd with all of his music videos and some unreleased videos as well. So, in short, a highly recommend this for those who do not already own "hellbilly deluxe" or are a huge fan of Rob Zombie. Otherwise, you should look at "past, present, & future" as it comes with more, for around the same price.

"Whenever you buy a Rob Zombie album, movie, or t-shirt for that matter, he always makes sure you get your money's worth!

This CD/DVD package is not a deviation! Most of the time you see reissues of albums and it's just for more money because the "extra" stuff on it sucks. Not so here.

NEW ARTWORK THAT IS AWESOME, NEW PACKAGING WITH THE ART THAT IS VERY IMPRESSIVE, AND A DVD OF EVERY SONG ON THE ALBUM!

What's really cool about Rob Zombie's videos are that you know they are almost going to be like 5 minute B-Movies and not a video of a band playing a fake concert.

Probably one of the coolest things is that you can listen and watch the entire cd on your DVD player and it can be like 13 (or 15 with the remixed tracks) mini B horror movies while you hear the entire album! Awesome!!

Thanks again Rob!"

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Rob Zombie's first solo outing since disbanding White Zombie came in 1998 with "Hellbilly Deluxe"; a surprisingly pumping and enjoyable dirge that managed to overcome the repetitiveness that would plague Zombie's later releases. "Dragula" and "Living Dead Girl" became massive hits, and were soon enough overplayed and made tons of appearances on various movie soundtracks. This Deluxe Edition features the original album, plus a booklet of new artwork and a bonus DVD containing videos for every song directed by the man himself. What's really surprising here is that nearly eight years after it's original release, "Hellbilly Deluxe" is still worth headbanging to and still enjoyable, and it remains the best material that Rob Zombie has ever done solo (nothing will ever touch the magic he helped create in White Zombie). This is a great buy for fans who don't own the original copy of "Hellbilly Deluxe", but for those who already do, this isn't worth laying down the cash for unless you are an absolutely die hard fan."
