Synopsis

Album Description
After releasing some of the best pop music in the last five years, which 99% of you reading this have never heard before, Not Lame has taken hold of some of that material (7 songs) and added 5 more new songs to introduce today's pop fans to a criminally overlooked talent. Pledging allegiance to the united states of Melody, Hooks and Song Craftsmanship, Alitzer Exhibits some of the finest pure pop. (All Tie Zur) contains an endless supply of music laced with lush, melodic hooks that combine honest lyrical observation and wry metaphor. Points of music reference are hard for such a unique talent, but pin us to the mat and we'll mention label mate, Doug Powell and the purest pop moments of Adrian Belew and his work with The Bears, Belew guests on guitar on a few of the songs here. Not Lame Recordings. 2001.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have been listening to Rick Altizer since his first CD, "Blue Plate Special". Being an avid Adrian Belew fan, I purchased "Blue Plate Special" without first hearing it because Adrian Belew not only produced it but played the lead guitar. From the first listening, I have been a fan of Rick's. All Tie Zur showcases some of the best songs from a few of Rick's earlier CDs as well as new songs. "Trash Can Darling" is one of those catchy tunes you can't get out of your head after the first listening. "Oyster" is Rick's take on the Beach Boy's Pet Sounds era. The songs have great guitar work and can have an "international feel", such as some parts of "Resurrection".Rick is a gifted songwriter with a unique voice, an inventive guitar player and a guy who is willing to take chances. It is hard to pin a label on Rick's voice and his music. I tend to agree with the Amazon.com description in comparing Rick to Adrian Belew and his work with his band, The Bears. In my opinion, Rick's music is inventive and addicting. Rick's other CDs are worth seeking out, especially "Blue Plate Special" "Go Nova" and "Neon Fixation"."
