"Rhapsody in Bassoon" is a marvelous CD. Simply put, William Ludwig displays one of the most emotional and sensitive bassoon performances to date. The CD opens with his adaptation of Beethoven?s "Sonata No. 3 in A Major for Piano and Violincello, opus 69" and is followed by the romantic love song, "Concerto for Bassoon and Piano" by Marcel Bitsch. The feeling of love is further displayed by Ludwig?s performance of Andre Previn?s "Sonata for Bassoon and Piano", which was Previn?s gift to his bassoonist girlfriend. The final selection is inspiration for the title, Walter Mays? "Rhapsody for Bassoon and PIano". This literature is impeccably performed and recorded.
