""Higher Octave Music's 'Rendezvous: Echoes Within the City' is a double-disc, mid-line-priced collection of 24 smooth jazz and smooth contemporary instrumental tracks. This is not the kind of album that will convert doubters -- anyone that isn't fond of this relaxed, mellow, immaculately produced music will not find anything to change their mind here -- but for listeners that already like this music, they'll find Rendezvous to be an excellent sampler. After all, there are number of the genre's heavy-hitters here -- Neal Schon, Craig Chaquico, Bryan Savage, Jonathan Cain, 3rd Force, Brian Hughes, Douglas Spotted Eagle, Jonathan Cain, EKO, Cusco. There's enough variety here, as it winds from lite funk and swing to worldbeat-inspired new age, to keep things interesting, but the real strength of the collection is that it sets a mood and sustains it throughout the two discs. "A very carefully crafted 2 CD set of smooth jazz and new age music. This is a very melodic set that flows very nicely. You can read a book while this is on, or use it for entertaining. Great to listen while eating dinner! I was very impressed! Would highly recommend!"
