Synopsis

Album Description
Deriving from a variety of influences such as Muse, Chevelle, Blindside and Linkin Park, Red brings a unique blend of heavy guitars, intense string arrangements and dynamic vocals. They are quickly gaining fans with an exceedingly intense live show every bit as compelling as their debut cd. Already touring heavily in the mid-west and west coast, Red has quickly made many fans along the way. With over 20,000 friends on myspace, the band makes it a priority to write each and every fan back personally. Randy Armstrong says, "It is important that our fans see us as genuine guys who care." The songs on their debut release deal with the struggles that all humans face, while leading listeners to a place of redemption in the midst of the brokenness. Red hopes their music impacts people in a way that causes them to not feel alone in their struggles. Randy explains, "I hope that our music has a profound impact on people. You never know what people are dealing with in their every day lives, but I am willing to bet that at some point, we all have experienced the same feelings of anger, sadness, confusion, etc. Our music talks about a lot of those times that we have struggled dealing with those feelings and the situations that caused them. I hope our music makes them feel like they are not struggling alone." Produced by Dove nominated producer Rob Graves and mixed by Ben Grosse, End of Silence releases June 13th. The band will be touring with Day of Fire this spring then playing at many major festivals this summer and will continue to hit the road throughout the fall. This Deluxe Edition is a 2-disc feature CD and DVD.

CD Reviews

Why haven't I heard of this band

"The Good

Originally released 6-6-06, the Nashville rockers deliver an expanded edition of their debut album as a treat to their devout fans. "Breathe Into Me" has thick bass lines that mix well with the meaty guitar riffs. Vocalist Mike Barnes is powerful and passionate in his delivery. "Already Over" uses haunting piano to set the dark tone. Subtle drums and guitar fuzz add texture to the lyrics.

"Lost" treads emotional ground with tortured vocals and enduring choruses. There is also an acoustic version at the end of the album. Heavy riffage and fiery wails are brought out on "Wasting Time," but that's not to say it doesn't focus on vocal melodies though. "Already Over, Part 2" revisits its predecessor with and even darker tone. Only this time the band swaps the piano for soft strings and acoustic guitars.

The deluxe edition adds a bonus DVD of a special "invitation only" live performance (in 5.1 sound) that Red put on for their fans in Nashville, Tennessee. The DVD also contains a documentary on the making of the album, plus interviews and backstage tour footage.

The Bad

Nothing notable

The Verdict

You may be asking yourself, how can a band I never heard of have a deluxe version of their album? I was thinking the same thing, until I took a listen. Then I was asking myself, why haven't I heard of this band? Red mix strong and powerful rock music with dynamic vocals on their debut album. Isn't that what all rock fans are looking for?

Incredible Music
Hannah Rose Williams | USA | 12/08/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have to admit, the lyrics aren't all that deep, and at times are even mildly cliche. (Phrases like, "I tried so hard" and "You threw it all away" are very overused on the punk scene.) But the music is so original, unpredictable, and well-blended that it's well worth it! It gave me chills. It moved me so that I wished I could cry.

If you're tired of buying an album only to find that every song is almost identical, Red is definitely for you. The unique composition adds flavor that keeps you interested."
A Must Have CD
Eric Wright | Dayton, Ohio | 04/14/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I had only heard their radio released songs before seeing them in concert. After the concert, I couldn't wait to get this CD. There are very few CDs that I can listen to every song on the CD and not get bored. This CD has been in my car CD player for more than a week, and I haven't gotten tired of it yet. Great song writing, great music, and great message.

Red is more than just a bang-it-out rock band. They incorporate strings, melody, and energy into their songs. The DVD is a great addition because it gives you an opportunity to see their live performance.

If you are looking for a heavy, driving rock album you will definitely want to pick this one up."
