Forced to evolve with good results

"Native Place marks a turn in sound for TRC. Out with the familiar guitar based pop and in with a dancier approach, a move that attempted to ensure survival for the band.
Strangely enough, this CD is probably their most popular but in turn it's their last (well as a four piece that is). It's just impossible not to like this release, even if it's not my favorite.
All the trademarks of TRC are still around. Probably TRC's most well known song, "Every Beat of the Heart", opens things up, very likeable with its great chorus.
My favorite track is "Collide"; definitely check out the acoustic version on Gary's latest release. There are some hints of the old band on the wonderful "Fall On". You are simply forced to hum along with the sunny melodies on "Harbour Force", the gorgeous guitar work of "Something So Good" and "Native Place" and the fantastic closing track "Blue Sky"
A CD that becomes more infectous after each listen.
