"hello metallians, if you have been into power metal for any time at all you have heard or should have heard about rage. rage, spearheaded by mastermind songwriter, lead singer and bassist,PEAVY WAGNER. peavy is one of my idols, the others being king diamond, kai hansen, ralf scheeps, rockn rolf of running wild, david wayne, dc cooper and so on. rage have so many albums out, there are at least 15-20,maybe more, and all are special and great metal albums and all have a different sound. rage have stayed true to power metal and have managed to re invent themselves with every album. this is one of my favorite albums. this is older and more speed influenced power metal , the newer rage is more dark with meaty crunchy riffs courtesy of guitar god viktor smolski and the godly drumming power of mike the troll terrana, yes now in the millenium peavy has found the perfect line up with viktor and mike and are finally at their prime. but the classics should not be overlooked. this cd is awesome. songs like mental decay and down by law and deadly error are some of the best of their kind. one thing that i like the most about rage is their ability to keep creating catchy heavy hitting metal songs that do not get repetitive and are allways memorable. like this cd all of the songs grab you from the start and stay in your head and you cant help but want to hear them over and over again. peavy deserves way more respect because he has had a huge influence on the power metal scene and he has never given up or went in other musical paths. he is also responsible for most of the symphonic bands as well as for the fact that rage with the lingua mortis orchestra was the first metal band to tour with a full orchestra, then all of a sudden metallica did s&m and others popped up all over, yes peavy has set many of the standards in the power metal scene and it has took him 20 or more years to finally get a little appreciation and credit. hell rage are right now bigger than they have ever been, i mean they are huge. what i love about the old rage albums is peavy's vocal style. in the older albums he was singing high pitch with a dave mustaine sort of sound and using all kinds of cool growls. now days peavy has a total different vocal style, he can not hit these high notes like he used to and his voice has become deeper and fuller and meaner. that is why i say that there are 2 versions of peavy wagner. the long haired crazy high pitched singing metallian of the late 80's through the early 90's, and then there is the bald chubby peavy with the deep more mature voice and not jumping around as much on stage, a more calm more proffesional peavy of the late 90's till now in 2007. i have the most respect for peavy because he has stuck to his guns and even when his band members up and left out on him with a half finished ghost record so they could be in a pop band he still kept his faith and even if he lost alot of money he did not quit untill the album was finished( thanks to viktor)that is what i call being a true metallian. peavy you rock and to you fans or others just browsing around reading this review, if you like more speedy high pitched power metal then check out rages older cds and if you like it heavier and with more crunch then check out newer rage albums. here are the 2 albums to start out with. for the new rage you need to check out soundchaser because that is one of the best power metal albums in the world and shows peavy at the top of his game with his 2 other members viktor and mike. for the old rage this cd execution is the way to go but for the metallian like me who loves all forms of power metal i would reccomend you buy all of rages albums. rock on metallians, your friend in metal, brandon whitson , 25 of north carolina"
