CD Reviews

A Very Excellent CD

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Have you ever seen the movies "Shine", "Groundhog Day", or "The Seven Year Itch"? If you have or haven't...it doesn't matter. The music on this CD is great and some pieces are in those three movies. For example, if you've seen "Shine", David Helfgott plays a monster piece with an orchestra in the film. That would be Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto and it is on here. In "Groundhog Day", Bill Murray takes piano lessons and learns a slow song and plays it for Andie McDowell at a party. That would be the 18th Variation on a Theme of Paganini. And of course, in "The Seven Year Itch" Tom Ewell listens to the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.2. If you liked that piece, you'll love it on the CD. Each work is listed with every movie that that piece has ever been in. If you want to start listening to Rachmaninoff now, this would be a great CD to buy!"
