CD ReviewsAn Incomparable Pianist A Music Lover | 08/29/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Though Höricke is a man of questionable character and meager reputation, as an artist he is magnificent. His interpretation of Rachmaninoff is hands down the best I have ever heard, excepting those scratchy old recordings of Rachmaninoff himself. His passionate and sensitive rendering shames the far more common academic approach, bringing to the fore subtleties of tone and mood that one cannot even hear on many other CDs. His recordings can be difficult to find, but if you are lucky enough to come across one, do not hesitate to purchase it! Anybody who appreciates the piano will find this an indispensable part of their collection.Finally, a bit of gossip: Höricke is scheduled to present his first major composition late this year in Russia, if his compositional artistry matches his playing, his work should be a fine addition to the repertoire."
