Product Description
Quintus McCormick has toured the world with some of the most important blues artists including James Cotton, Otis Clay, A.C. Reed, and Lefty Dizz. Working as a sideman, Quintus' reputation as a brilliant guitarist, gifted songwriter and astonishing vocalist spread like wildfire. Born and raised in Detroit, Quintus moved to Chicago where Buddy Guy and James Cotton encouraged Quintus to form his own band. In 1994 The Quintus McCormick Band was formed. Quintus has been a mainstay of the Chicago blues scene, appearing frequently in the city's world-renown nightclubs and at countless festivals and concerts. Hey Jodie! is Quintus' first Delmark CD and features 14 new compositions of original, heartfelt blues, r&b and soul.

"The guitar palying was soulful blues rock as was the singing. Original songwriting was refreshing. The harmonica playing was smoking hot. It sounded like a number of different instruments including the flute. Would love to see them live. This would be a good group for late-night show performances with their exhibited talent."
A Great Debut!

"Quintus McCormick sounds like he could have been plucked right out of an earlier generation of solid Blues/Soul singers. And this CD easily sounds like it could be just another great CD from a veteran musician. You can definitely hear the his experience in this disc, he's obviously learned well from his time with some of the Blues veterans he's worked with. (And he plays the guitar well). This disc is very well done, a great listener, that'll give you a good feeling inside. And kudo's to the great Delmark label-great job in picking this guy up! I just hope that he keeps putting out solid CD's like this one-I look forward to watching Quintus climb the ladder of success. With guys like this-"The Blues will live forever!" I should have written this review much earlier, since I've had this one for aquite awhile, and listen to it often,(which is saying something-consdering the volume of CD's I recieve). But I'll leave you with this advice-BUY THIS DISC!"
Instant Classic

""Hey Jodie" is an instant classic.

The Blues=Reality.

There is nothing more real: from the horns, the piano, the harmonica, the lyrics, the vocals, the breakdowns,

the arraingment and especially the guitar.

He must have some things on his mind because it translates through the music.

A must have. If you like the Blues add this to your collection.

If you don't like the Blues, you will after this.

A perfect 10.

Beatiful, Inspired and Soulful."
