Rivers | Los Angeles, CA USA | 02/16/2010 (4 out of 5 stars) "Prince's cinematic follow-up to "Purple Rain" proved a self-indulgent fiasco, but this engaging album survived the wreckage. "Parade" (1986) has little filler and a fair share of classic tracks. "Mountains," "Girls & Boys," "Anotherloverholenyohead" and the minimalist-funky "Kiss" showcase the eclectic genius at his best. Strangely enough, the music from "Under the Cherry Moon" (including the effective title ballad) was underutilized in the film itself. Nevertheless, "Parade" emerged as a welcome improvement over the erratic "Around the World in a Day" and set the stage for the dazzling brilliance of "Sign 'O' the Times.""
