The Amazing Jim Peterik strikes again!!
T. G Krysinski | Medina, New York United States | 12/15/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"What can I say? If you were into Jim's great songwriting skills in Survivor ( not to mention all the great tunes he's penned for other artists), then you should grab this new project IMMEDIATELY!! It's fantastic and..it ROCKS! This is fantastic melodic pop/rock with some killer guitar work. There is a definate Survivor/Toto vibe to this cd. So if you like those bands-GET THIS NOW! The new singer (Toby Hitchcock) has an incredible voice that sounds alot like Mickey Thomas (Starship),Bobby Kimball(Toto),and maybe a bit of Brad Delp(Boston). And Mr. Peterik is in fine voice here,too-trading off and/or dueting with Hitchcock on some songs.Reminds you a bit of those old Journey songs with Greg Rolie trading off with Steve Perry. All in all..Just a STELLAR disc!! ENJOY!"
Heartfelt and true melodic rock

"This is an absolutely gorgeous yet rocking melodic rock album. This project is the latest in a line of great Jim Peterik works from the past few years--following such stellar acts as World Stage and Mecca. Once again, Mr. Peterik has shown why he is such a stellar musician and songwriter. With young newcomer vocalist Toby Hitchcock, these songs are carried off beautifully. My one disclaimer giving my overall grade about 4 3/4 stars compared to a full 5 stars is that some of the material really doesn't break any ground--sounding just like Peterik's Survivor in their prime in the 1980s. That being said, surely Survivor is a great act to emulate if you're looking to make stellar melodic rock. The lead track "It's Criminal", in fact, has roots from Survivor Vital Signs era recording sessions--clearly apparent with the classic melodic rock uptempo sound of this song. These songs both rock and tug at your heart strings. Take the second track "Gone", with it's powerful anthemic quality yet a message about a lover who has left. "Sound Of Home" is a mid-tempo melodic masterpiece with an unforgetable chorus. "Prideland" is a gorgeous slower track, while "Turn To Me" again sounds like classic uptempo Survivor from the Vital Signs era.Let me be clear: this album does not have modern rock influences on it anywhere. It is simply more brilliant songwriting and music from a man who significantly influenced an entire genre of rock music. It sounds like a blast from the past and yet also has a new, mature edge to it. Every track has a memorable hook and melody to it. Highly recommended for Survivor fans in particular and many melodic rock fans."
