Simple, beautiful

"It's easy to be skeptical about how indie-rockers approach non-indie-rock songs. They can be too coy, too sarcastic, or too modest - unwilling to go out on an emotional limb. But Portastatic has never had a problem with being beautiful and angsty. There's nothing groovy, nothing Beckish about this record. If you like Brazilian music for the cocktails, you may not like this record. If you like it for the heart, you will."
