CD Reviews

WOW! An Incredible Addition to My Plankeye Collection!
Chris Heeter | Central Ohio | 07/01/2000

"This CD, in my opinion is Plankeye's greatest project. When I heard the song "Fall Down", I was absolutely hooked on this CD! I love the first song and the last song, but Fall Down and Playground are my favorite songs. I learned to like the second one. I don't feel like writing much more becasue I have been writing reviews all day and I just want to make this point; PLANKEYE IS AWESOME IN THIS ALBUM!"

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The final release from the group as a Scott Stiletta-led foursome, "One and Only" takes the raw power pop of "Commonwealth" and polishes it to a shimmer. With not one weak track present, the songs that are intended to rock do so, and the songs intended to move do likewise. The album opens with a bouncy modern rock number, "Someday", and extends that mood into the album climax "Compromise". A more reflective mood comes through in the anthem-like ballad "One or the Other", and the more upbeat doxology "Sterling". The concentrated groove of "Maybe Tomorrow" and the crisp outburst "Playground" show some slight musical modification, without wandering from standard modern rock territory. Lyrically, the record is subtler than previous outings, presenting situations of a life that strives to know the Lord, though often without mentioning Him specifically. Still, an excellent CD to complete the four album collection from these guys."
The Eye's Best!

"5 stars, definately...although "Commonwealth" would also deserve 5 stars. Now thinking about it, I'm not so sure which I'd rate the best. The thing I love about Plankeye is the honesty. This album (as well as the previously mentioned "Commonwealth") was released at a time in my life where music was the only comfort to me. Whenever I hear a song from these albums, especially songs like "Fall Down", "One or the Other" or Commonwealth's "Who Loves You More?", it takes me to a place of rememberance. Sure, times weren't so good then...but it's a comfort to reflect back and to think of how I made it through, God and His creation, music."
